You’ll Only Have to Buy Starfield Once if You’re a PC and Xbox Player

In good news for Xbox and PC players, it turns out that Bethesda’s upcoming behemoth ‘Starfield’ will be graced with the ‘play anywhere’ banner. This was revealed in a new update to the game’s store page- which confirmed that fans will only have to purchase the game once to have full access to the PC and Xbox versions. It’s a nice bonus- especially for people who would have had to shell out £140 just to have the game on two platforms.

Considering the size and hype behind Starfield, many were suspecting that it wouldn’t be receiving the play-anywhere treatment, but thanks to this new update, those worries were dashed. On top of this, the update confirmed that cloud saves would be an integrated part of the game, meaning saves should seamlessly transfer between the PC and Xbox versions. This is quite common for a lot of modern Xbox games, but seeing it confirmed is still good news.

It’s important to note that this will only be the case for digital versions of the game- meaning a physical boxed Xbox version will not give you the ability to download the game on PC- which is a little disappointing if not expected. With the release of Starfield a little over a month away (or less if you purchase the premium edition), the hype cycle is about to come to an end. After thousands of hours of discussions, trailer dissections, and arguments on the internet over Starfield, fans will finally be able to experience the game itself on September 6th (or 1st). Whether good or bad, fans will only ever have to buy the game once- until the next generation comes of course.
