The Inventive Co-Op Action Game ‘Split Fiction’ is Available Now
Split Fiction, the latest game from Hazelight, is available now across all major consoles besides Switch. This follows Game of the Year winner ‘It Takes Two’, which was awarded the crown back in 2021. Josef Fares, Director of Hazelight, announced their next release ‘Split Fiction’ with a whole lot of enthusiasm at last year’s Game Awards show but does it live up to the studio’s own hype?
The game is currently sitting at a very impressive 90 on Opencritic. Comparing this to their other two co-op focused releases, ‘A Way Out’ and ‘It Takes Two’, this score lands Split Fiction as their highest rated release yet.
Split Fiction is set where two writers get stuck in their stories as they flip flop between a sci-fi and fantasy world. Expect big set pieces, co-operative puzzles, and a story about working together if the studio’s past games are anything to go by. According to reviews, the co-op elements are the strongest here than they’ve ever been for the studio. One review site, Gamespot, gave the following review with their 10/10 score:
“Split Fiction is more than a hilarious, compassionate, and delightful new benchmark for multiplayer experiences--it is a remarkable love letter to creativity, video games, and companionship.”

If this looks interesting to you, you can pick it up on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles right now. Do keep in mind that the game is purely co-op, but picking up one copy will give you a free friends pass so only one person needs to buy the game if you plan to play online. Of course, if you want to play co-op, you’ll only need to worry about one screen thanks to split screen play.
