TellTale Games Promises The Wolf Among Us 2 is Still in Development

Don’t worry Wolf Among Us fans- TellTale is still working on the sequel to Bigby’s detective story, even if information on it is still quite sparse. We do know that the developer is making progress, however, thanks to an update posted on X, where several screenshots of the game were dropped. With it being four years since the first announcement of this project, its not a lot but its evidence that we may see this title drop at some point in the next few years.

Being first announced in 2019, the sequel to the hit narrative adventure game has been shrouded in shadow for a long time now. Practically nothing was known about the project until this announcement and, even with them, we can only confirm that the game is indeed in production. Unfortunately, with the recent layoffs for the studio at the tail end of last year (which saw ‘most of’ its workers let go), there’s no guarantee that this project will get a release at all and, even if it does, it may not be anytime soon.

After the original TellTale was shuttered back in 2018, TellTale Games succeeded it but, unfortunately, they haven’t been able to get much traction since. With many of their older titles coming from IPs like Batman and The Walking Dead, which the studio does not have the rights to anymore, they instead created a game for Amazon show ‘The Expanse’, which ended back in 2022. While it scored well, reviews and sales were nowhere near the studio at its peak, which may explain some the layoffs from the end of last year.

With the return of The Wolf Among Us, however, hopefully TellTale Games can regain some of their footing. The screenshots shown off are much more detailed than the first game whilst still retaining its unique charm and art style. Not much in the way of story is revealed from these images but, considering the fantastic grimy fairy tale narrative from the first game, this sequel looks to deliver on the promising setting of the original Fables comic series even more. Make sure to keep your eyes out for more news on this project hopefully in the coming months (or years…).
