Amazon’s Fallout Renewed for a Second Season

If there was ever any doubt, Amazon’s explosively popular ‘Fallout’ TV show has been renewed for a second season. Since it dropped last week, the eight episode show has been praised for its loving respect for the source material whilst introducing new characters and revelations to the wider franchise that has had new and veteran fans alike gushing about its quality. The show was announced to be getting a season 2 thanks to Amazon itself with the following post on X/Twitter:

The eight episode first season has attained both fantastic reviews on top of impressive streaming numbers. In fact, the show ranked in the top three most watched series on Amazon Prime ever just four days into it being dropped. With it also achieving critical acclaim from fans and critics on Rotten Tomatoes, its clear that the Prime exclusive series is a hit in more ways than one. Considering this, its no surprise that the show would be redeemed for a second season- especially since Amazon’s other huge show, Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, has been renewed despite it being far less of a critical darling.

With all eight episodes being dropped on the same day, you can watch all of Fallout right now as long as you have a Prime subscription. With the return of the Brotherhood of Steel’s Maximus, the vault dweller turned wastelander Lucy and the fan favourite ‘Ghoul’ played by Walton Higgins all confirmed to be returning to the series with the announcement poster, we’re likely in for a lot more explosive Fallout action in the future. With the success Arcane, Cyberpunk Edgerunners and now Fallout, it seems that studios have finally found a balance of how to create a faithful videogame adaptation while also standing on its own two feet.

Speaking on the show, executive director Jonathan Nolan had the following to say about its potential future just before it got officially renewed:

"You try to make a terrific season and if you're lucky enough to go again, you make a follow-up, you leave enough material and you have enough of a master plan from the beginning that you know what the next step would be. We have been talking for some time now about the next steps for Fallout, and we're very excited about it."

If you can’t get enough of Fallout now that you’ve blasted through the show, now’s the perfect time to check in with the previous games in the series- especially since so many are now on sale in commemoration of the TV show’s release (and also considering that Fallout 5 is at least 10 years away). Just stay away from that weird Brotherhood of Steel spin-off on the PS2 if you value your own sanity.
