Sea of Stars Unveils Price Point on Xbox

The official Sea of Stars Twitter account has unveiled the game’s price point as well as releasing the demo on Xbox consoles. The classic style JRPG has been listed at $34.99 USD on Microsoft’s platform, with Sabotage Studio confirming that regional pricing will apply. In terms of UK pricing, that means that this will likely cost players £29.99. Considering how ambitious Sea of Stars appears to be, this seems to be a more than fair price point (especially considering the rising cost of game development).

On top of this, Sabotage have launched a demo for the game on the Xbox storefront, which you can download and play right now. This demo covers around 1-2 hours of gameplay from partway into the campaign and lets players experience some combat and story to get a feel of how the full game will play. The demo has already been out on the Switch for a while now, and if you’re even slightly interested, its worth checking out- especially considering the studio’s previous game.

“The Messenger” was an 8/16-bit platformer inspired by the classic Ninja Gaiden games on the SNES. This is (so far) Sabotage Studio’s only game, but considering how well it integrated classic gameplay and aesthetics into something definitively modern already puts it on the map as one of the best Indie developers. With The Messenger receiving a 93% very positive rating on Steam, Sabotage certainly knows how to make this style of game.

If anything about the beautiful 16-bit graphics or innovative, involved battle design from the trailers piques your interest, you can download the Sea of Stars Demo onto your Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles now. If you like it so much that you want to pre-order, you can (in US territories) but keep in mind that the full game is coming to Xbox Game Pass day one on August 30th later this year. The game is also coming to PlayStation but, unfortunately, there’s no news on a demo for that platform just yet. Hopefully, it comes soon so that PlayStation players will be able to experience a slice of what could be the greatest indie game of this year.
