Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Comes to PlayStation Just 5 Months After Launch

In what may be one of the shortest exclusive timeframes we’ve ever seen (especially from a first party studio), Machinegames’ latest Indiana Jones release is making its way to the PS5 later this week on April 17th. This marks just over 5 months since the game was originally launched on Xbox and PC to critical and commercial success (achieving a mighty score on aggregate site Opencritic).

To make the leap over so soon is unprecedented but indicates the direction that Xbox is heading in when it comes to their exclusive strategies. We already knew that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would be coming to PS5 in 2025 prior to the game’s initial launch so its clear that Xbox are less interested in keeping console selling exclusives anymore- especially considering all of their exclusive games launch day and date with PC too.

Of course, PlayStation is also known to allow their games to grace PC but this is often long after anybody would consider buying a PS5 console for a specific exclusive. The time between these is generally no less than a year at a push. Compared to Xbox specifically allowing many first party games (including Pentiment and Grounded) to be available on PlayStation within a few months of it first dropping, this is a big difference.

It clearly shows how Xbox is moving away from their sales model of selling hardware with exclusive games since, as it stands, the PS5 and PC markets have completely dominated in this sector for the last two generations. Instead, the company is focusing on selling software and making Xbox Game Pass available on as many platforms as possible. Although it seems strange, it may not be too farfetched to see Xbox Game Pass available on a PlayStation within the next few years. For now, however, anyone who wants to play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 will have to buy it outright. It launches later this week on April 17th.
