GTA VI Set for Autumn 2025 Release Window

Amidst rumours of a delay, Take Two (publishers of the Grand Theft Auto franchise) have doubled down on their claim that the game will be coming next year. They even narrowed down the release window to some point between September and November thanks to a recent statement from Strauss Zelnick (Take-Two CEO) when asked about any possible delays in a recent interview with IGN. Although, of course, the situation and development state of the game could change within the next 18 months but it’s a reminder that Rockstar are getting much closer to wrapping up the game in time for Christmas next year.

With it being over five months since the initial reveal trailer and rumours around discontent within Rockstar (including the requirement to return to the office five days a week in the run up to GTA VI’s release), many were less than optimistic that we’d see the next entry in the huge gaming franchise any time soon. However, with this announcement, as well as the likely case that we’ll see a new trailer or some sort of news within the next few months with events like Summer Games Fest, it seems that fans can breathe a sigh of relief for now.

GTA V sold over 200 million copies in its lifetime- making it the second-best selling game of all time by a wide margin. If you’re wondering what beat it out, you may have forgotten just how big Minecraft is with pretty much all generations (sitting at an insurmountable 300 million copies sold). Considering that GTA VI’s trailer has almost received 200 million views (also being the most viewed YouTube trailer in 24 hours), its evident that the game will be a financial success- even if its not guaranteed to be a critical one.

With Take-Two recently announcing an astonishing $2.9 billion quarterly loss (likely in part due to GTA VI’s development and advertising losses), they’re going to be itching to release Rockstar’s cash cow as soon as possible. Unless anything changes, Autumn of next year should be when we see the game finally officially release.
