Players are Changing the Talking Flower Language in Mario Bros. Wonder.

Mario’s first original 2D outing in over a decade, Super Mario Bros. Wonder has launched to critical acclaim from fans and critics, but there’s one aspect of the game that has the fanbase split. The talking flower, which was shown off in the first trailer of the game earlier this year, gives occasional advice and insight that can help with finding secrets and hidden areas. While useful, the voice and automatic activation of these flowers has left some players feeling annoyed.

With the flower automatically speaking to you whenever you walk, jump, or run past it, there’s seemingly no escape from these chatty plants. Luckily for those who really can’t stand this feature, it can be changed and even turned off entirely in the settings menu. To do this, players can click on settings and scroll down to ‘talking flower dialogue’. From here, they can change the setting to ‘voice off’ to never have to hear this little guy again. Its important to note that the flowers and their hints will still be in levels, but their unwanted chiming in will be deactivated.

If you don’t mind the flower, but the specific English voice is the main annoyance for you, then you’ll be pleased to know that you can change the language spoken. From Japanese to Spanish, you can have your version of the flower scream at you in whichever language you so choose. This is also a fun feature to simply try out since the test will remain in English, but you’ll be able to hear different voice actor’s takes on the speaking flower. This is a great feature of the game and one that is quite rare for Nintendo’s usual standard for customisation.

So, if you are sick of hearing the little flowers in Mario Bros. Wonder scream at you when you’re just trying to go for a nice afternoon stroll, then make sure to turn this setting off. Just know that you can’t get rid of these demon flowers for good, as they’ll still offer their unwanted advice through text boxes. There really is no permanent escape from the Devil- even in a Mario game.
