Bethesda Share Elder Scrolls VI Update on the Series’ 30th Anniversary

As part of an announcement post for the 30th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls: Arena, Bethesda offered a brief look into the development of the next entry in the franchise- The Elder Scrolls VI. We’ve heard next to nothing about this release since back in 2018 when it was officially announced, and, thirteen years on from Skyrim, fans are jumping at any news concerning the next entry in this series. Bethesda gave the following statement:

While there is a lot of information regarding a lot of Bethesda’s franchises packed in here, the most important for a lot of fans is the following:

“Last but not least, yes, we are in development on the next chapter -The Elder Scrolls 6… Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing early builds has us filled with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure.”

With this news, it appears that work has finally begun in earnest on the next entry in the Elder Scrolls series after the launch of Starfield last year. While this does not guarantee that we’ll see it any time soon, an update on its progress is good news at this point in time.

One aspect about this post that has many fans excited is the fact that Bethesda apparently has a playable build that is shaping up quite well. While this could mean anything from a basic combat test or even a portion of its open world, its good to see that the same passion and enthusiasm that went into Skyrim will go into its successor. After the misstep that was Starfield last year, some fans are worried as to how The Elder Scrolls VI will turn out but, hopefully, there won’t be another decade long wait until this much anticipated RPG releases.
