Balatro is Back Up on European Storefronts

After over a week, poker roguelike ‘Balatro’ has finally returned to European storefronts. This comes after Nintendo agreed to put the game back up for sale after a surprise decision from PEGI to increase the age rating from a 3+ to an 18+ out of nowhere. This caused several storefronts to cease sales for the game until this decision was reversed or resolved in some way.

Thankfully, it seems that publisher ‘Playstack’ managed to smooth things out with these storefronts and, as of the 8th of March, you should be able to buy Balatro on every storefront if you live in Europe. As for Japan, the issue with the eShop rating persists, meaning you’ll have to buy the game on either Xbox or PlayStation consoles if you want to experience this addictive roguelike.

The only consequence of the game being back up for sale in Europe is the age rating change. As this removal was brought on by a sudden decision by ratings boards to bump up the age requirement, many were wondering if this would remain once the game was put back up on storefronts. As it turns out, it has- meaning this poker game is currently a PEGI 18+. This is purely down to strict gambling restrictions in European markets that seem harsh but are unlikely to change with the game in its current form. Regardless, at least Balatro is back up and available for purchase pretty much everywhere (well, apart from in Japan unfortunately).
