News on the Indiana Jones Game is Coming Soon

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting some news regarding MachineGames’ take on Indiana Jones, you won’t have to wait too much longer. Microsoft have announced a new Partner Showcase set to take place on Thursday January 18th at 20:00 GMT that will include details on four upcoming Xbox exclusive releases. These are Avowed, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Ara: History Untold and, of course, Indiana Jones. Out of all of these, the biggest is undoubtebly Indiana Jones, which was announced back in 2021 and, since then, there’s been next to no information on it.

Thankfully, that drought will end on Thursday- with MachineGames promising over 10 minutes of details on what is currently Xbox’s most anticipated exclusive. We’ll also hear more about the games setting and story and, perhaps most importantly, whether the game will be in first or third person. Considering the history of MachineGames’ Wolfenstein series, you may expect this to be directly from Indy’s perspective, but rumours and leaks have claimed otherwise. Either way, hopefully we’ll finally see some gameplay to start the hype train for this one.

With Xbox stating that this will indeed be a ‘gameplay trailer’, we should see some actual real footage of the game playing- which is well overdue nearly two years since the teaser (although Elder Scrolls VI still holds the record with no news almost six years after the reveal trailer). It will be good to know when this game takes place too, as the gameplay and setting will shift drastically depending on whether this is one of Indy’s earlier adventures pre-WWII or if this delves into his later years into the 1960s. Alternatively, it could do both- swapping back and forth between eras.

Regardless, this is all just speculation until we see it for ourselves in a couple of days. Hopefully, this will be more along the lines of ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ than ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’. Make sure to check out the developer direct on Thursday, 20:00 GMT to watch the reveal live.
