Wolverine PS5 Footage is Leaked

As part of the huge recent Insomniac leak, a bunch of footage for the upcoming Wolverine game on PS5 has been dropped. This comes after hackers breached Insomniac Games on December 12th and demanded the amount of $2 million to return stolen files that contained details on upcoming releases for the next ten years. This leak also included employee personal details and gameplay of several games in development- most prominently, Marvel’s Wolverine, which is currently slated for a 2025 release.

Since Insomniac Games refused to pay the ransom, the internet (most notably, X or Twitter) was flooded with these leaks. The leaked gameplay is alpha- similarly to the Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leaked last year- but still shows off a bunch of information that Insomniac would have preferred to have kept under wraps. This includes gameplay details, combat scenes and, perhaps most problematic of all, the complete story of the game from start to finish. Essentially, almost every part of the product that currently exists has been revealed to the public as a part of these leaks.

Fortunately, with the game still a ways off, certain story and gameplay sections can be changed to fight back against these leaks if Insomniac so wishes. However, there are huge areas that cannot be changed. This includes character designs and assets. Its also unlikely that Insomniac would be able to change everything that was shown off so, unfortunately, anyone who has seen these leaks won’t be able to go into the game spoiler-free

This cements December as Insomniac’s worst month this year after winning no awards at the Game Awards show and being hit by a huge cyber attack. Things have certainly gone downhill for the company in this regard since the huge success of Spider-Man 2 when it launched back in October. With the leak consisting of 1.67TB of data, almost every single plan of Insomniac Games for the next ten years has been exposed to the public. Apart from Wolverine, this includes plans for upcoming Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank games as well as new IPs that I won’t spoil here for anyone who doesn’t want to know. Although bad, hopefully, Insomniac can land on their feet after this blow. If nothing else, its only uphill from now going into 2024.
