Asgard’s Wrath 2 is the Best Reviewed VR Game Ever

Asgard’s Wrath 2, which came out on the Oculus Rift last Friday, has earned its way into the VR hall of fame with glowing reviews from critics and fans alike. Currently sitting at a 93 on Opencritic with 100% of reviewers recommending the product, it seems that the sequel to the original critically acclaimed game has received even more positive attention and buzz

These scores place it at the top of Opencritic’s top VR games list- reaching just beyond the previous king: Half-Life: Alyx. The game, which is currently available on the Meta Quest 2 and 3, has been given 9s and 10s across the board- with the lowest current rating granting it a 90%. So, why does this VR game in particular succeed where most others can feel like half-baked tech demos and short glimpses into the potential of the technology? Well, according to critics, it’s how the game makes the most of VR while transforming it into an actual, playable videogame that lasts beyond a meager few hours.

Game Rant have taken to calling Asgard’s Wrath 2 the system-selling game for the Meta Quest headsets- calling it one of the greatest VR titles of all time:

“Asgard's Wrath 2 is the killer app that Meta Quest 3 early adopters have been waiting for, an expansive VR experience with a stunning amount of depth.”

CGMagazine was equally impressed in their 9/10 review- touting this offering as a phenomenal VR experience, and one that isn’t likely to be topped soon:

“Asgard’s Wrath 2 is a near perfect VR RPG. Between its compelling story, great gameplay mechanics and scope it’s a must play for all VR Meta Quest owners. With just a few tweaks to the accessibility, it could have been perfect.”

With these impressions, it seems that Asgard’s Wrath 2 is finally the system seller that the Meta Quest needed. If you have any interest in VR, it seems that this is the best game to start off with. With a fantastic combat system, an actually fleshed out story and in depth RPG mechanics, this offering is one of the greatest steps forward that VR has seen- and is one that could finally see the medium finally going mainstream. Although its still in its early days, Asgard’s Wrath 2 is making all the right impressions.
