Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Receives Strong Reviews

Released on Monday, the much anticipated latest Warhammer game has received some great reviews. It’s currently sitting at a strong 82 on Opencritic with 86% of players recommending it. This third-person shooter/hack-and-slash comes 13 years after its predecessor and, according to most, it exceeded its expectations.

The game has both single player and multiplayer modes that place you as the titular space marine as you face aliens or other players. The multiplayer also has co-op so you can face off against the tyranid threat with your friends. The game seems to nail the feeling of being small in a massive war as you charge into the action. This was shown off in a lot of the earlier trailers and thankfully carries over to the main game according to reviews. GameSpot had the following to say in their 8/10 write up:

“Space Marine 2 is a fantastic sequel that builds on its predecessor in every way, bombarding you with an overwhelming enemy and chaotic action that makes you feel like a small part of a much larger war”

Far and away, judging by critic reviews, the best aspect of this release is its combat. It’s been described as brutal, crunchy, and satisfying. As much as it may be a cliché, this is the best way to feel like a Space Marine in the Warhammer universe. While not completely perfect, one thing is clear in every review: if you’re a fan of the Warhammer universe, this is a must-play. With how hit and miss so many Warhammer games can be, fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that this one lives up to its legacy. You can pick up this one on every major console (including Steam) right now.
