Vaheim comes to Xbox Game Pass on March 14th

The hit survival game Valheim is set to be freed from the shackles of PC when it comes to Xbox consoles next month. On top of that, Xbox has confirmed that it will come to Game Pass the day of release. The game, which has achieved overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam since its release in 2021, puts players into a procedurally generated world (much like Minecraft) based on Norse mythology where their goal is simply to survive. Of course, grander mysteries and adventures arise later on but the simple start of the game is what gave it its initial charm and level of addictiveness for fans.

The game can be played completely solo but, of course, it also has multiplayer that allows up to 10 players to explore the same game world. Developers Iron Gate has also confirmed complete cross-play between the Microsoft store and Steam versions of the game- meaning you’ll be able to play through entire sessions with your friends even on different platforms. Being helmed as one of the greatest survival games of all time, this is definitely one you’ll want to pick up on day one if you’re a fan of the genre.

It’s important to note that the Xbox version will also include the free expansion that launched for Steam last November. This added the Mistlands- a whole new biome, along with new creatures and secrets to explore. The developers are also working on the next big volcanic expansion, but don’t hold your breath for that coming any time soon. Even without this, there are hundreds of hours of gameplay in Valheim- and it’s definitely a game you’re going to want to take your time with. There have been no public plans to bring the game to any other platforms as of yet, but the Developer hasn’t shut down the idea either. For PlayStation 5 and Switch gamers, there may still be hope. Either way, the game is coming on March 14th for Xbox consoles- which gives you just under a month to prepare yourself (good luck).
