The Three Biggest Confirmed Gaming Events for Early June

Coming hot off the heels of Playstation’s recent State of Play, we’re getting closer and closer to the ‘Summer of Gaming’ taking place in early June. With a whole host of events replacing the now-deceased E3, which ones are actually worth tuning in for? Well, take a look below at the three biggest showcases confirmed so far.

Summer Game Fest

The Summer of Gaming week kicks off with Summer Game Fest on June 8th. Hosted by industry legend Geoff Keighley yet again, this is set to be the biggest of the upcoming events. With rumors that the recent PlayStation showcase was holding back its heavy hitters to debut at Keighley’s show next week, there’s sure to be a plethora of first and third-party games being shown off in this stream. Whether you like indies or AAA blockbusters, there’s no reason to sit out on what may be the biggest gaming event of the year. You can watch this on June 8th, 12:00 PT, 20:00 GMT.

Wholesome Direct

Soon after the opening show, the fourth annual Wholesome Direct is set to take place on Saturday, June 10th. Unlike some other showcases, it’s pretty clear as to what type of games will be shown off. Cozy, indie games in the vein of Stardew Valley and probably even more frog games will be shown off in this smaller-scale presentation. However, that’s no reason to not check this one out. With how popular indie developers and studios have been getting over the last few years, this show gets bigger every year- evidenced by the over 70+ game numbers confirmed in the Wholesome Games tweet. To check these out, you can watch the live stream at 9:00 PT, 17:00 BST.

Xbox Games Showcase + Starfield Direct

In competition with Summer Games Fest for what could be considered the most anticipated showcase, the Xbox Games stream is coming on Sunday June 11th. This promises to be one of the biggest showcases for Xbox in recent years- which is something sorely needed after disappointments such as Redfall earlier this month. Microsoft has remained tight-lipped on what will be unveiled except for one obvious exception: Starfield. The latest game from Bethesda is so anticipated, it’s got its own showcase straight after Xbox finishes up. This is set to be an extended gameplay preview in the vein of Fallout 4 in 2015- which was definitely a highlight of that year’s E3. This showcase as a whole is not something you’ll want to miss as an Xbox fan. You can check it out on June 11th, 10am PT, 18:00 BST.

While those are certainly not all of the showcases confirmed for this June, they are the biggest- and the most likely to provide the big budget reveals you’ll be hoping for. Of course, we also have the Ubisoft Forward event and a potential Nintendo Direct happening at around the same time. That being said, the next couple of weeks will be exciting for almost any gamer.
