Skyblivion Team Comments on the Official Oblivion Remake
As I’m sure most of you are now aware, there have been many official leaks regarding the upcoming Oblivion remake, which is rumoured to launch early next week. The screenshots accidentally shared by studio Virtuos confirm that the remake definitely exists and, based on what we’ve seen, it looks quite promising.
With an Oblivion remake to launch imminently, this has had many wondering what this means for the Skyblivion project. This has been a fan creation in the works for 13 years that has been converting the entire game of Oblivion into the Skyrim engine. That is set to release at some point later this year as a mod for the original Skyrim game and itself looks phenomonal.
This had many wondering if the Oblivion remake would be stepping on the toes of Skyblivion or vice versa. Thanks to an official statement from the Skyblivion team, however, we can confirm that there is no bad blood. They offered out the following regarding the leaked screenshots and rumours surrounding the official remake:
Skyblivion and an official Oblivion remake are likely going to be for very different audiences. Skyblivion would only be playable on PC and would very likely only be available for those extremely interested in seeing Oblivion work in a Skyrim engine. Conversely, an Oblivion remake or remaster has a much broader appeal- especially for more casual players and console owners. These don’t really overlap as much as many may expect as a result.
Keep your eyes out for more news on both the Oblivion remaster later next week (if rumours are to be believed) and the Skyblivion project at some point later this year.
