PS Plus Monthly Offerings Includes Two Spooky Games

As part of PlayStation’s October Monthly games, two appropriately spooky offerings are being made available. These are the Dead Space remake and Doki Doki Literature Club. These may initially seem to be completely different games: one being a horror experience inspired by Alien taking place in a destroyed spaceship whilst the other is a dating game/visual novel set in a cutsey Japanese high school. However, they are quite a bit more similar than you may expect. Both will be available via any PlayStation Plus tier starting October 1st.

The Dead Space remake launched earlier last year to critical acclaim. After the letdown that was The Callisto Protocol, a lot of fans were clamouring for a good sci-fi horror game. Thankfully, EA’s remake of the first Dead Space managed to deliver. This remake manages to enhance the psychological horror, terrifying presence of the necromorphs and, of course, visual fidelity to the maximum. This is the definitive best version of what many consider to be the greatest sci-fi horror game of all time and, with a PS Plus subscription, you can experience it just in time for Halloween. Strangely enough, the game was already made available on Xbox Game Pass so EA seem to be giving this game away like its nothing despite its apparent quality.

Don’t write off Doki Doki Literature Club, however, as there’s a lot more to this game than initially meets the eye. Judging by PlayStation blog’s warning of ‘This game is not suitable for children or those who are easily disturbed.’, you get the idea that this may not be the typical visual novel game you expect. This game was very popular with streamers upon its first release on PC due to its less than traditional narrative. You can now experience this one for yourself and, if you haven’t been spoiled by it, you’re in for a unique take on the genre which is, again, just in time for Halloween. Make sure to pick both of these up by the end of the month to add them to your PS Plus libraries.
