Not Bloodborne Kart Now Has a Release Date

If you’re a big fan of FromSoftware’s ‘Bloodborne’ (which is still stranded on the PS4 and its locked 30fps), you may have been following news on an interesting fan game from Lilith Walther: Bloodborne Kart. After making the PlayStation 1 demake of the game back in 2022, Walther decided to merge the cheery family fun of Mario Kart with the depressing, eerie atmospheres and characters of Bloodborne. This surprisingly perfect combination is set to hit Steam and Itchio on May 31st this year. What’s better- its completely free!

There is one slight caviat to this release, however. Technically, this isn’t actually ‘Bloodborne Kart’. After a letter from Sony last year, Walther was forced to change essentially everything that tied their racing game directly to the FromSoftware IP. Thankfully, after a few months, ‘Nightmare Kart’ was born which is, by all accounts, the exact same game with some slight variations to avoid getting completely slammed by Sony’s lawyers.

Even without the support of the IP, the PS1 inspired kart racer still looks fantastic and, of course, being free, there’s really no reason to not check it out. This is one of the most fantastic fan game projects out there and is incredibly impressive coming from only one person. The cherry on top of this is just how complete this release is. With 20 characters, 16 maps, and even a campaign mode with bosses, this completely legally distinct kart racer looks to be one of the best fan projects in years. Make sure to pick it up on May 31st on PC (again- for free!).
