Rockstar Hints Toward a GTA VI PC Release
We already know that GTA VI won’t be coming to PC day in date with the game’s console releases since, technically, a PC port for the game has yet to be confirmed. Considering the massive success of the franchise and its success on PC thanks to mods, its obvious that we’ll be getting Rockstar’s upcoming release on more than just PlayStation and Xbox. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has slowly been leaking very small details about GTA VI- one of which came as part of a recent IGN interview.
When asked about a multi-platform release for GTA VI (essentially meaning a PC port), Zelnick said the following:
“With regard to others in our lineup, we don't always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.. We have seen PC become a much more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue,"
It’s true that more and more games have been coming to PC the same day as their console counterparts. Even when there is a time gap, this has been narrowing in recent years. For example, the recent PS5 exclusive Final Fantasy VII Rebirth had an exclusivity window of less than a year before it was brought over to PC.
Considering that the CEO of GTA VI’s publisher is already talking about the importance and popularity of PC in relation to the game, its clear that a port is in the back of the studio’s minds. There was a year and a half gap between GTA V’s release on consoles at the time and its PC availability. Rockstar’s most recent release, Red Dead Redemption 2, saw only 12 months of time before it dropped onto Steam.

If this trend continues, we could see GTA VI make its way to PC at some point in 2026 if the 2025 release window for the game stays true. Either way, we still don’t have any concrete news on Rockstar’s upcoming magnum opus over a year after its initial trailer but, if reports are to be believed, development is going well. While a PC port the day of release is unlikely, at least non-console players shouldn’t have to wait too much longer for what could be a genre defining, record breaking release.
