Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Is A Hit For Fans Of The Original
We may be barely a month in but this year’s best rated release (so far) is sitting at an impressive 89 on Open critic with a hefty 96% recommendation rate from critics. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a sequel to the divisive 2018 original and initial impressions from fans and critics couldn’t be any different. When that first game launched, it had a mixed bag of 6’s and 7’s (as well as the occasional 9) which led to a less than stellar reception. This was the result of some pretty bad launch bugs that made a lot of the game unplayable.

It wasn’t just the poor technical performance that made the original game so divisive. The slow gameplay with a preference for realism over fun, Kingdom Come quickly became hated by many but also loved by a small sect who enjoyed its methodical gameplay. From physically forging your own weapons to having to battle enemies in precise combat, Kingdom Come was bogged down by its mechanics for some but excelled due to those mechanics for others.

That formula for Kingdom Come has been implemented into the sequel in a fantastic way according to critics and fans. If you weren’t a fan of the slow pace of the first game, its unlikely that the sequel will captivate you. If you felt drawn to the realistic gameplay loop of slowly building your power from a peasant to a knight, this sequel will be everything you’ve wanted. FextraLife (who were fans of the first game) had the following to say in their 9/10 score:
“With stellar storytelling, top notch voice acting, and much more polish than its predecessor, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a "return to form" for the RPG genre, and will likely be one of the best titles this year. Warhorse has proven they can elevate their formula to even greater heights”
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is not an experience for everyone but if you miss the muddier clunkier gameplay and raw story and gameplay from classics like Morrowind and Oblivion, this is a must buy according to RPG fans. You can pick it up now on all major consoles.
