Dredge’s ‘Iron Rig’ DLC is Only One Week Away

Dredge, the addictive fishing game with a splash of eldritch horror thrown in, is getting its second DLC on the 15th August. Contrasting with the short and sweet ‘Pale Reach’ mini DLC from last year, the Iron Rig will offer up to 5 hours of additional content with far more characters, boat upgrades and, of course, fish. This will take players to a deep-sea drilling rig run by the mysterious Iron Haven corporation as you carry out several fishing-based tasks on behalf of them. This being Dredge, though, there’s likely to be something far more sinister bubbling beneath the surface.

Dredge released early last year to critical acclaim amongst fans and critics and is currently sitting at an overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam. The addictive loop of capturing fish, selling them at port and upgrading your ship to better survive the eldritch horrors of the deep is fantastically engaging. The only main complaint the game received was that it was slightly too short- with only four main areas to explore in a brief 10 hour-ish campaign. Thankfully, with next week’s DLC, a much more sizeable bit of content will be added to the game than we’ve seen before.

The DLC was originally slated to release in late 2023 but, due to larger scopes and what developer Black Salt Games referred to as ‘more time needed to coordinate marketing’, it was delayed. This was replaced with a much smaller in scope release titled ‘The Pale Reach’. This only added a couple of hours in a snowy region but, much like the base game, the quality remained high. Hopefully, the Iron Rig manages to maintain this high bar when it launches next week. The DLC will be coming to all major consoles for around £11.99.
