Bear and Breakfast On Switch Confirmed for September 15th

No doubt the Game of the Year 2022, the coveted Bear and Breakfast is finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch after being delayed earlier this year. PC gamers were already graced with this experience in late July, but the Switch port was not released alongside it due to ‘controller difficulties’. However, now that developer Gummy Cat has fine-tuned how the game will play on Nintendo’s console, Switch fans (including myself) are finally given the opportunity to run this masterpiece on the go- unless you have the insanely rare SteamDeck of course. The release date has now been set for September 15th- just under two weeks away.

But just what is Bear and Breakfast? Well, the main selling point is in the name really. You are a bear that runs a bear and breakfast. Now, I know you’ve probably already bought several hundred copies due to that statement alone but wait- there’s more. The bear’s name is Hank. And that’s not even the most exciting part. You are tasked with decorating, making guests happy but also investigating the woods as there seems to be something more at play. From resource gathering to town (or more aptly, BnB) management gameplay, Bear and Breakfast look to be the perfect little cozy game on the Switch.

While I haven’t yet played Bear and Breakfast, the trailers of the game just ooze charm and the art style mirrors this perfectly. Apart from being beautiful, the gameplay looks very interesting too. While certainly not as compelling (and addictive) as something like the much loved Stardew Valley, there still looks to be a lot of Animal Crossing-esque customization while giving more exploration options than that series has done in a long time. PC reviewers have expressed their love for the cozy atmosphere and wonderful mechanics but have addressed concerns that it is slow to start and lacks focus at times. If this is the case, I, for one, will certainly be sticking with it. Again, Bear and Breakfast is confirmed to launch on September 15th on the Nintendo Switch. If you're even remotely interested in a cool bear named Hank doing cozy BnB things, this looks like a winner.
