Assassins Creed Shadows Finally Launches Later this Week

After numerous delays past their original release dates, Assassins Creed Shadows is finally launching later this week on March 20th. The game was originally slated for a November 2024 release before being pushed into February and now March of this year. The much anticipated samurai entry in the series is a make or break moment for Ubisoft- and its success (or failure) could see some big changes within the company.

With so many critical and commercial failures from 2024 (including Star Wars Outlaws and Skull and Bones), Ubisoft desperately need something to draw in both old and new fans alike. Assassins Creed Shadows is being propped up as this redemption but, if it fails to rise above being mediocre, it could instead act as one of the final nails in the coffin for the studio.

Assassins Creed Shadows (previously known as codename: Red) is a game that many in the fanbase have been asking for since the first few entries. A Japanese spin on the series set in a time of Samurais and Ninjas just seemed right. Of course, Sucker Punch beat them to it with Ghost of Tsushima- which is arguably better than any other modern AC game Ubisoft have put out.

That hasn’t stopped Ubisoft though as Assassins Creed Shadows has had a sizeable marketing push aiming to get as many eyes on the game as possible ahead of its release later this week. Whether the game lives up to the high expectations placed onto it remain to be seen. The original early access promise has been scrapped so you’ll have to wait until the game fully releases on March 20th even if you pre-ordered.
