‘The Blood of Dawnwalker’ Unveiled by Ex-CD Projekt Devs
‘The Blood of Dawnwalker’ is an upcoming single player third person action game helmed by some of the greatest talents behind games like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. It was revealed via an impressive cinematic trailer last week alongside a host of details on the game’s official website. The first project from studio ‘Rebel Wolves’ and published by Bandai Namco, ‘The Blood of Dawnwalker’ is channelling the essence from the Witcher universe but with an interesting twist.
In this release, you fight vampires as someone cursed with vampirism himself: Coen. Being a ‘day walker’, however, you’ll be able to manoeuvre during the day as a human while your vampiric powers emerge at night. According to the devs, the story will revolve around rescuing your family within a 30 day time limit. If you’re not a fan of a ticking clock, don’t fret. This time limit seems to be similar to releases like Persona and Deathloop where time only progresses with certain actions (likely through story beats or mission completion).
This should mean that exploring the gothic world of Dawnwalker isn’t quite as stressful as it could be (although, trying to traverse amongst bloodthirsty vampires may interfere with that notion). In a world taken over by vampires with cult like rituals and blood taxes to be paid by the residence, this gothic fantasy narrative has the potential to get very dark. Set in a 14th century kingdom in Eastern Europe, the roots of dark fiction are strong and, should it live up to its environmental and narrative potential, it could achieve the atmospheric heights of other gothic releases like Bloodborne.
The development team headed by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz hope to implement difficult moral dilemmas that mirror previous games they’ve worked on- The Witcher 3 especially. There’s a lot of promise behind this release- even if it is still in the early stages of development. If you’re interested, a more fully fledged reveal showing off gameplay is set for some time in June hopefully for a release date at some point in 2026. Keep an eye on this one for what could be one of the best third person narrative action projects helmed by some of the best minds in the business.
