Steam Summer Sale Kicks off Tomorrow

The famous Steam summer sale is scheduled to begin tomorrow, 29th June, at 18:00 BST. The sale has been a yearly event for over a decade now- and acts as Steam’s largest discount window- with thousands of games being reduced by incredible amounts over the next couple of weeks. For most PC players, the Steam Summer sale is the time to beef up their backlog with games they may never even play.

Although no games have yet been confirmed for the sale, but it’s likely that if its over a year old, it will likely have a discount. Unlike other digital storefronts like PlayStation and Xbox, Steam has increased its user base hugely based on this yearly event. From AAA games from years past being reduced to less than £1 and entire game franchises being purchasable for the same as a meal deal (especially those usual Ubisoft suspects), this is objectively the best time to buy your PC games.

It’s not just AAA experiences that will receive these heavy discounts either, as this is often the time for indie games to shine. Where players may be apprehensive to sink £20-£30 on an unproven independent game, reduce that same game to less than £10 and you’ll see the player bases skyrocket. As a result, this yearly event is a fantastic way for indies to be noticed and grow with a larger fanbase. If there’s a smaller game in your backlog that you haven’t yet bought, keep an eye on it this sale season to see if it’s time for you to finally pull the trigger.

Valve has also confirmed that the sale will end sometime on July 13th- meaning it’ll last the usual 14 days. Over this time, there’s likely to be more games added too, so don’t write off the library on day one. It’s also a good idea to put games you want on your Wishlist prior to a sale as Steam should notify you if it’s included in the discounts. With the fortnight of sales close approaching, make sure to bolster your wallets for some fantastic AAA and indie games.
