Stardew Valley is Getting Another New Update in March
On the 8th anniversary of indie darling ‘Stardew Valley’, its creator took to Twitter/X to confirm the release date of the upcoming 1.6 update. ConcernedApe confirmed that this free content drop would be coming on March 19th for PC- with releases on console happening soon after. Considering that the game has sold over 30 million copies with no sign of slowing down, Stardew Valley continues to be one of the greatest indie success stories in modern gaming.

This announcement of a release date is great, but what exactly is set to be included in the update? While ConcernedApe previously admitted that this content drop would be smaller than others, he has since gone back on these claims after working on the additions for just under two years now (with the update being announced way back in June of 2022). Since then, the scope of this update has ballooned massively- setting it up to be one of the largest content dumps that the game has seen since it launched nearly a decade ago.

Additions include 8 player co-op, a new farm, new festivals, new dialogue lines and improved late game content for those who have been on the same farm since the game released. With how big Stardew Valley is as a game already, these frequent content updates only add to the scope of this release. Considering that these are all free and prodominantly developed still by only one person, Stardew Valley remains one of the most impressive indie releases ever.

Whilst fans are excited about this update, there have been those who questioned the status of ConcernedApe’s upcoming game ‘Haunted Choclatier’, which places players in control of a choclatier that has (surprisingly enough) ghosts running amok. The developer has stated that he was taking a break from the project to focus on Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update but, now that this has a release date, we can expect his work to be fully dedicated to the upcoming indie release. Hopefully, we’ll get to see it come out in 2025.
