Nintendo Direct confirmed for today

Nintendo has confirmed that a Nintendo Direct will be taking place today at 10pm GMT/ 2pm PST. This was announced via a Tweet from Nintendo of America- who confirmed that the stream would be around 40 minutes and would cover games coming in the first half of 2023 for Nintendo. See the tweet below:

The last Direct was in September, and was heavily criticised for its strange focus on farming games- so its safe to say that this one will (hopefully) show off some more of what Nintendo fans are looking for. While more details on Tears of the Kingdom and Octopath Traveller II are pretty much inevitable, there are some big question marks surrounding tonight’s conference. Pikmin 4 was announced for summer 2023- which may line up with the first half of 2023 time frame. Of course, there are always rumors about Metroid Prime 4 which may or may not exist at this point. These are quite hopeful expectations, however, and should probably be kept in check considering Nintendo’s pension for disappointing fans at these showcases.

Other likely inclusions are the Advance Wars remasters and more news on the next Mario Kart DLC pack (as well as some interesting indies). Apart from that, however, Nintendo has a lot of wiggle room when it comes to this Direct. Whether its a new Mario project or hopes of a Holow Knight: Silksong release that you’re looking out for, it’s best to keep those expectations low. This is especially considering how 2023 may very well be the final year on the market. With the lowering likelihood of a Summer showing for Nintendo, tonight may very well be the last big push for Switch games. Whether or not that’s the case, here’s hoping that the show tonight lives up to expectations.
