Monster Hunter Wilds Reaches 10 million Sales in its First Month

The latest in Capcom’s massive Monster Hunter franchise has reached over 10 million sales in its first 30 days on the market. This has crushed sales expectations according to the studio and catapulted it into becoming the 4th most concurrently played game on Steam of all time- beating out previous game of the year winners Baldur’s Gate 3 and Elden Ring.

The appeal of the Monster Hunter IP is not to be underestimated- especially considering its massive popularity in Japan. Still, 10 million sales in a single month (with 8 million coming from the first 3 days) is nothing to scoff at. The most popular release, Monster Hunter Worlds, sold a combined total of 21 million copies in its lifetime so it wouldn’t be too farfetched to see Wilds overtake this spot.

Much of the sales success of Monster Hunter Wilds comes from a global release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC ports that have all contributed to the 10 million copies sold. On top of this, new features such as cross play and even more accessibility than ever makes Wilds both a great starting place for new players as well as a fantastic entry for long time fans.

This all being said, the game isn’t without its flaws. Poor PC performance and microtransactions to change your player’s appearance (in a full priced mostly single player game) have soured some of the enthusiasm for Wilds. Should these be addressed, however, this release is already in the running for 2025’s Game of the Year alongside other hits like Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Split Fiction. Until the PC performance and graphical issues have been resolved, however, it may be a good idea to add to the 10 million copies units with a PS5 or Xbox copy as opposed to PC.
