God of War: Ragnarok Reviews Released

God of War: Ragnarök might very well be the most anticipated game of 2022 for a lot of gamers (except maybe the fantastic Elden Ring). That being said, there’s a lot riding on this release for Sony- and the rare decision to lift the review embargo a full six days before launch was a bold move that could have just as easily been a disaster for the finale of Kratos’ Norse saga. On the other hand, it certainly oozes confidence from the Santa Monica team. This gamble, however, has definitely paid off.

With the embargo lifting at 16:00 GMT yesterday, reviewers flooded their platform with their takes on the highly anticipated title. It’s safe to say that this is definitely in the running for one of the most critically acclaimed games of not only the year, but the generation as a whole. With an average score of 94 on Metacritic (giving it the ‘must play’ stamp of approval), Ragnarök matches it’s 2018 predecessor- but a lot of reviews point to this being the perfect conclusion to this duology of experiences. Reviews are pointing to an experience that works in Tandem with the first to elevate gaming to new gameplay and narrative heights. See some of the key points taken from reviews below:

Ragnarök feels like a better game than its predecessor in almost every aspect.

Gamer.no

God of War Ragnarök is a spectacular sequel, retaining the same ultra-satisfying combat as its predecessor, but with a more grandiose story to boot.

Trusted Reviews

God of War Ragnarok is a once-in-a-generation game. It doesn't just live up to its high expectations, but it subverts them and expands beyond them all the same.

Game Rant

These reviews are all painting a very positive picture for Ragnarök, and with all 117 critic reviews being positive, its hard to see any way for this to be a disappointment for fans. Of course, the general public’s consensus remains to be seen- but from everything we’ve heard and seen of the game so far, this certainly does seem like everything its promised to be- and maybe even more. God of War: Ragnarök is releasing worldwide next week, November 9th 2022- where everyone will finally be able to experience what could be one of the defining games of the generation.
