Days Gone Gets a Remaster (for Some Reason)
In their endless quest to make everything but a Bloodborne remaster (or even 60fps patch), Days Gone is the latest unnecessary remaster in Sony’s library. This was announced as part of the most recent PlayStation State of Play which, as you may expect, didn’t go over too well with the majority of fans- especially those who have been coping for years with regards to a potential Bloodborne remaster.
Why Days Gone of all games is getting a remaster is an interesting question. The first game didn’t sell overly well and its available to be played on PS5 with a 60fps mode already unlocked for free. As a result, PlayStation had to add some additional features to make this version seem worth it (in a similar way to what they did with The Last of Us Part II and it’s roguelike mode.
The additions to Days Gone remastered include a new horde survival mode, a speedrun option if you want to get the game over and done with and some new accessibility features in conjunction with full Dual sense support. Essentially, the new mode and controller support are the only reasons to be picking up Days Gone for a second time. There’s also the addition of a permadeath mode that is set to be the hardest thing to do with the game behind shutting down the console out of boredom 5 minutes in.
Unfortunately, this news will likely only fuel the Twitter fire for director for Days Gone (who no longer works for PlayStation), John Garvin, to say more about how the game was ruined by ‘woke’ reviewers and how it deserved a sequel. Of course, none of that matters since, as PlayStation have made very clear, Days Gone won’t be getting any kind of sequel any time soon (thankfully). For now, this remaster is all the company is serving up.
If you do want to play a middling zombie adventure about a boring man riding a motorbike, you can pick up Days Gone’s remaster later this year on 25th April. This will also be available with a £10 for anybody who owns the physical or digital version of the original. Any copies owned via PS Plus will not be able to be upgraded, however.
