Ubisoft Reportedly Have 11 Assassins Creed Games in Development

In a recent article from Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, it was revealed that there is a whopping 11 new Assassin’s Creed games being worked on. This comes soon after a similar leak where an AC: Black Flag remake was reportedly in development. While we already knew about 5 of these projects (due to Ubisoft themselves revealing them at the 15th Anniversary Assassins Creed live stream last year), but that leaves 6 that Ubisoft is keeping in the dark.

What was revealed in this report was not a lot, however. Considering that these are all set to be semi-high budget entries in the series, its likely to be at least a decade until we see all of these releases- and that if Ubisoft don’t greenlight any more during that time. Considering that Assassins Creed is Ubisoft’s most recognizable- and profitable- franchise, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see them going all in with the series in years to come.

A lot of the success of the series hinges on the latest mainline game coming later this year: Assassins Creed: Mirage. After a lackluster response to 2020’s ‘Assassins Creed: Valhalla’, Ubisoft saw it fit to switch gears and return the franchise to its more stealth-oriented roots in the Middle East. Whether this is the game that fans have been waiting for remains to be seen- but Ubisoft is relying on it to restore some good faith in order to maintain the future success of the other 10 unreleased titles.

Out of the 11 games revealed in this report, it’s important to note that only 6 are currently actually in production- with 2 of those in pre-production. This means that the other 5 are simply concepts or prototypes awaiting a green light from Ubisoft’s higher-ups. That being said, there is a surprising focus on multiplayer for a lot of these titles- which is something that the Assassins Creed series has strayed away from in recent years. One game is rumored to be free to play, while another apparently is adapting a live-service model (which we all know always works out well). Since next to nothing is known about these projects, though, it may be the case that they never even release.

For a full list of the games ‘leaked’ with this report, you can see below. However, considering that this is just a list of codenames and concepts, don’t expect anything concrete until at least a few year’s time- potentially even at Assassins Creed’s 20th Anniversary. It’s clear that Ubisoft is going all in with the series, which makes sense considering how huge it’s grown. As Ubisoft’s flagship IP, the company is willing to milk it for all its worth- a move that could very easily backfire. If you’re interested, take a look at the full list of games revealed below:
