Bethesda Confirms Starfield Will Come in the First Half of 2023

With rumours surrounding Arkane’s Redfall releasing later than expected, many have speculated that Starfield will be similarly pushed back. This is because Todd Howard previously confirmed that the sci-fi action RPG will arrive after the vampire hunting game from Dishonored and Deathloop developers. However, regardless of how much Redfall is supposedly being delayed, Bethesda has confirmed that Starfield should release no later than June of this year.

This is due to an update on Bethesda’s ‘help’ page, which poses FAQs and updates for their games. One of the latest FAQs to make it onto the site was the following:

This is quite a confident proclamation- and fits in with last year’s June Xbox showcase, in which they confirmed that every game shown will release within the next twelve months. This would mean that each of the games shown should have a release date of June 2023 at the latest. By simply stating that Bethesda’’s latest RPG will definitely arrive in this time frame, a lot of fans’ worries have been laid to rest. It’s been over seven years since the last traditional RPG (Fallout 4) was released for the studio- and Starfield is the opportunity for Todd Howard to redeem the bad press from failed projects like Fallout 76.

With the release window now set in stone for, most likely, June of this year, fans can finally ramp up their excitement again for the space epic. Of course, this single line on a help website doesn’t mean delays aren’t possible, but the confidence does seem to indicate that most of the project is complete and now Bethesda is just ironing out smaller issues and bugs. Of course, this is Bethesda we’re talking about- so expect a lot of those bugs to sneak through on release (which may not always be a bad thing). With a maximum of 176 days to go, Starfield will finally soon be in the hands of patient gamers. Just don’t quote this when Starfield gets delayed again into 2025.
