Assassins Creed Mirage Announces Haptic Feedback Shirt

The PlayStation 5’s Dualsense controller was praised upon release due to its myriad of next-gen features. One of such features was haptic feedback, which used advanced vibrations within the controller to allow you to feel what the game was showing on screen. This technology has come a long way since the Nintendo 64’s aggressive rumble pack, but Ubisoft wants to transfer these features from controllers to… t-shirts.

Announced in collaboration with tech company OWO, an ‘Assassins Creed: Mirage’ haptic gaming system shirt has been unveiled. OWO claims that the shirt will allow players to feel ‘dagger wounds’ and ‘punches’ in real-time while playing the game. If this technology is in any way as accurate as the Dualsense, this is actually a slightly scary concept. Say you’re getting absolutely demolished by sword-wielding enemies in Assassins Creed: Mirage. With this shirt on, you feel every single stab, axe hit and, my favorite, ‘severe abdominal wound’ on your body. Of course, these won’t be anywhere near as extreme as the real thing- but it does have some (while still very cool) eerie implications.

If this interests you (I’m assuming you’re a masochist), the bundle includes gel pads, a charging case, a storage device, and even a digital copy of the game on whichever platform you’d like. Before you buy into the future, however, you should know that it comes with a hefty price tag. With only a few limited bundles left available, this set will set you back a whopping 499.99 Euros, which is quite the investment for a piece of tech that is (so far) only confirmed to work for a handful of games. However, depending on its success, it could very well be integrated into upcoming releases- Ubisoft titles especially.

You can take a look at more features of this shirt here and you can take a look at the pre-order page here if you’re interested. You’ll have to act quickly if you want it in your size, though- as there are only 2000 of these shirts being produced. That means that there are just over 200 of each size available. The wait time for these to be shipped is approximately three months, which lines up with Assassins Creed: Mirage’s October release window. If you do get it earlier, though, you can play games like Superhot and League of Legends to test out just how impactful this technology is. Although pricey, it is great to see just how far haptic feedback has come in such a short time span.
